About WaTabi
Who we are
WaTabi (和旅誌) is an in-depth Japan travel guide built for independent travelers on 5–14 day trips. We take the scattered, fast-changing stuff — official announcements, fare systems, opening hours — and turn it into guides you can actually follow without getting burned. The point is verification, specific years and prices, and regular updates, not keyword-stuffed filler.
What we believe
A good guide is worth more than saving a few dollars. Most "Top 50 Must-Visit Spots in Tokyo" articles are recycled, unchecked, and haven't been updated in a year. We do the opposite: every post has specific dates, specific prices and specific routes, with every ¥ price cross-checked against official sources — and we take a clear stand, telling you plainly when a pass isn't worth it or an attraction doesn't need booking.
How we make money (transparency)
WaTabi runs on affiliate commissions from partners like KKday. When you book through our links, we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. We don't push products because they pay more. If something isn't worth buying (the post-2023 nationwide JR Pass is a good example — we tell readers not to buy it for most itineraries), we say so.

What we don't do
- No sponsored "advertorials" — affiliate only
- No copy-pasted or AI-generated filler content
- No account or member signup — we don't collect your data
- No non-travel products — we stay focused on Japan
