Adult tickets are ¥3,300 and only the official page sells them — there is no box office. Agency-bought tickets are prohibited by the terms, and so is asking an agency to buy: tickets voided without notice, no refund, and Nintendo says people have already been turned away.
Three different entry deadlines, and from March 1 nothing is refunded — epidemic cancellation included. The last Kansai edition was the one the pandemic took.
The famous ¥10,000 sign has no statutory basis — the six penalties on the back of the same leaflet do.
Two bodies run Kyoto’s special openings for opposite reasons, which is why one shrine cost 800 yen in summer and 1,000 in autumn. Next window opens 30 October.
Japan's 27th World Heritage Site was inscribed in July 2026, and 12 of its 19 components are named 'ruins'. The palace lives in a free AR app, the cloister sits in a museum 3 km away, and the murals are locked in two other buildings — one of which shut in April 2026.

Osaka Metro says in writing that it runs no all-night trains on New Year's Eve, and Keihan is the one genuine exception. Dotonbori's countdown was never cancelled — it never had an organiser.
Admission is now ¥2,500, and the city says entries fell 16.8% in month one — so it is quieter. But scaffolding stands until July 2027, and the gate stops admitting at 16:00, not 16:30.
The castle itself tells you to go to Ritsuunkyo, the mountain opposite. It also shuts from 4 Jan, and no bus runs in December at all.

Chion-in’s bell is now a paid, pre-booked affair, city buses and subways do not run late on New Year’s Eve, and Keihan is your way home.
Four halls at ¥800 each, one combo ticket, cash only — and Hokkedo shuts at 16:00. Plus the official 1,687-deer count and fixed 2026 event dates.
